— 2018
Complements are modular artisan chocolates that form unique combinations of flavour and colour. Originally conceived in 2016 as an idea for end-of-year client gifts, the chocolates ultimately took on a life of their own, requiring a product, brand and packaging facelift for public consumption. Working with a chocolatier, my team taste-tested a diverse flavour range, and I selected a vibrant mix of colours and painterly finishes like airbrushing, dips and marbling, to represent the flavours and create a natural contrast to the geometric shapes.
The identity is informed by the shape of the chocolates and the textures of the flavours, all of which are ultimately reflected in the logo—a wordmark that hints at the shape of what’s to come—and the design of the box.
